A brake is a device that has functions such as decelerating, stopping, or maintaining a stopped state for moving parts (or moving machinery). It is a mechanical component that stops or slows down the moving parts in machinery. Commonly referred to as a brake or a stopper. The brake mainly consists of a frame, brake components, and an operating device. Some brakes are also equipped with an automatic adjustment device for the brake component gaps. To reduce braking torque and structural size, brakes are usually installed on the high-speed shaft of the equipment. However, for large-scale equipment with higher safety requirements (such as mine hoists and elevators), they should be installed on the low-speed shaft near the working part of the equipment.
