Trams are electrically powered and travel on tracks as lightweight rail transit vehicles. Trams are a form of public transportation, also known as streetcars or simply trolleys, and are a type of light rail (train powered by electricity, also known as a tram). They typically operate entirely on streets, usually consisting of a single car, but can have up to three cars. Additionally, certain cable cars operating on urban tracks can also be considered a type of streetcar. Since trams are powered by electricity, they do not emit exhaust gases, making them an environmentally friendly and pollution-free mode of transportation. Tianjin was the first city in the country to operate trams.
