A pistol is a short-barreled firearm designed for aiming and shooting with one hand or instinctive shooting. It is usually carried by commanders and special operations soldiers for self-defense and sudden attacks on the enemy within close range of 50 meters. The basic features of modern pistols include easy switching of safety, chambering of rounds, and magazine replacement, along with a compact structure and simple automatic operation. Modern military pistols mainly consist of self-defense pistols and combat pistols. Self-defense pistols typically have a range of 50 meters, a magazine capacity of 8 to 15 rounds, a single-shot firing mode, and weigh around 1 kilogram. Combat pistols, also known as assault pistols, are fully automatic and usually equipped with a detachable stock. They have a magazine capacity of 10 to 20 rounds and can be used as submachine guns, with an effective range of up to 100 to 150 meters. Modern pistols are primarily categorized into three types: revolvers, automatic pistols (technically semi-automatic pistols), and fully automatic pistols.
