Platform is a Chinese term, pronounced as píng tái. It refers to: firstly, a stage for people to showcase their talents; secondly, a workbench set up for convenient operation; thirdly, the operating environment of computer hardware or software; fourthly, the environment or conditions necessary for performing a certain task; fifthly, a plane usually elevated above the surrounding area, such as building balconies, viewing platforms, rooftop platforms, drying platforms, etc.; sixthly, the top floor rooftop or the ground floor extension of a residence for outdoor activities.
