The engine is referred to as a motor. In fact, a motor is a complete set of power output equipment, including gears, an engine, and a drive shaft, among others. It is evident that the engine is just one part of the entire motor, but it is the core component of the whole motor. Therefore, referring to the engine as a motor is not inappropriate.
