AK-47 Automatic Rifle, officially known as the 1947 model Kalashnikov assault rifle, (Russian: 1947-год Автомат Калашникова; English: AK-47 Assault rifle), was designed by Soviet gun designer Mikhail Timofeyevich Kalashnikov.
The AK-47 has reliable chambering action and good serviceability; it is sturdy and durable, with a low failure rate. Its shooting performance is excellent whether in high temperature or low temperature conditions; it is especially reliable for use in windy, sandy, or muddy environments, and has a simple structure that is easy to disassemble. However, its drawback is the severe upward muzzle climb during continuous fire, which greatly affects accuracy, and it is relatively heavy. The AK-47s equipped by the Soviet Army were replaced in the late 1950s by its improved version, the AKM. The main derivatives of the AK-47 include the AKM, RPK, AKMSU, AK-74, RPK-74, AKS74, AK-100, among several major categories.
