The full Goalkeeper system (including the turret with 1,190 rounds of ammunition tailored for the Royal Netherlands Navy’s Karel Doorman-class frigate) weighs 6.372 tons. The complete system includes the GAU-8/A 30mm seven-barrel rotary cannon provided by GE in the USA (also used by the US A-10 attack aircraft) and the EX-83 gun mount, an X/ku dual-band tracking fire control radar located above the right side of the turret, an X-band linear matrix search radar located above the left side of the turret, a television camera, an independent radio transmitter/receiver, an electronic control cabin, system interface, and control display console in the combat information center, and interfaces with the ship’s combat/fire control systems.
