Pedestrian Turnstiles (Revolving Doors)
The greatest advantage of automatic revolving doors is that they “are always open, yet always closed.” For people, the door can always be opened, but for the building, the door always remains closed. Therefore, automatic revolving doors have unique developments in security features. However, they do not have an advantage in terms of personnel flow, as the rotation speed of the door is fixed, and there is a limited number of people that can be accommodated between each door wing.
Every type of automatic revolving door has a specified flow rate value. Due to the characteristic of being perpetually open while also perpetually closed, the dynamic sealing effect of automatic revolving doors under frequent use conditions is better than that of other automatic doors. Given the limited capacity for human traffic in automatic revolving doors, additional automatic or manual swing doors are usually installed on both sides. This setup enhances transit capacity and ensures that the passage of people is not hindered if the automatic revolving door malfunctions. However, in terms of static sealing effectiveness, automatic revolving doors are inferior to other automatic doors as their mode of operation only allows for brush-type sealing.
