NAO is a 57 cm tall programmable humanoid robot. Its key components are as follows:
A body with 25 degrees of freedom (DOF), with key parts being the motors and actuators.
A series of sensors: 2 cameras, 4 microphones, 1 ultrasonic distance sensor, 2 infrared emitters and receivers, 1 inertial board, 9 tactile sensors, and 8 pressure sensors.
Devices for self-expression: voice synthesizer, LED lights, and 2 high-quality speakers.
A CPU (located in the robot’s head), running a Linux kernel and supporting proprietary middleware (NAOqi) developed by ALDEBARAN.
A second CPU (located in the robot’s torso).
A 55 watt-hour battery that can provide NAO with 1.5 hours or more of autonomy, depending on usage.
