With the continuous development of science and technology, research on robots assisting the elderly, disabled, and medical rehabilitation has rapidly evolved. Hemiplegia, also known as paralysis, refers to motor dysfunction in the upper and lower limbs, facial muscles, and lower part of the tongue on one side, and it is a common symptom of acute cerebrovascular disease. In addition to early surgical and necessary drug treatments, hemiplegia patients need to scientifically apply physical therapy to assist drug treatments to achieve rehabilitation and consolidation of upper limb motor function. This project aims to design a robot for upper limb rehabilitation training for hemiplegia patients caused by stroke. The robot features four degrees of freedom to accomplish shoulder flexion, rotation, and lateral swing, as well as elbow flexion, to help patients quickly restore upper limb mobility. This project will utilize robotic technology and CAD software to design a chain-driven robot suitable for upper limb rehabilitation training for hemiplegia patients.
