BD1901 Motor Rotor Commutator Assembly Machine The rotor commutator includes a cylindrical insulating base, commutator segments, and mica sheets. The commutator is sleeved and fixed onto the rotor through the inner hole of the cylindrical insulating base. The commutator segments are installed in a circumferential manner within the annular installation groove on the outer peripheral surface of the insulating base. The mica sheets are installed between adjacent commutator segments to provide insulation. During operation, the rotor commutator rotates with the rotor, and the connection relationship between the commutator segments corresponding to each winding and the fixed brushes is altered as the commutator rotates, thereby changing the current direction of each winding and ensuring the magnetic force direction of the magnetic field generated by the rotor winding. The annular installation groove of the existing commutator insulating bases is generally a dovetail groove, with the bottom of the commutator segments shaped like a dovetail. The dovetail and dovetail groove fit limits both axial and radial positions of the commutator segments. The mica sheets achieve axial and radial inward positioning through the insulating base, and radial outward positioning is achieved by matching the inclined surfaces between two adjacent commutator segments. To facilitate the installation of commutator segments, one side wall of the insulating base’s dovetail groove typically has an opening. During assembly, the commutator segments and mica sheets are inserted axially through the opening into the dovetail groove and then slid into position circumferentially within the groove. Finally, a stopper is used to close the opening, completing the assembly of the commutator. However, for rotor commutators of high-speed motors like automotive starter motors, which generally exceed 20,000 revolutions per minute, using a dovetail groove structure to install commutator segments can easily cause the commutator to throw segments during high-speed rotation. This equipment has been used by well-known companies such as Bosch and Dongcheng, improving production efficiency and receiving unanimous praise from customers. The drawings are editable and widely used in the industry.
