The use of hybrid power as a power source for machine tools is gradually entering the market. It is a new type of machine tool and has been favored by various countries. Hybrid mechanisms have advantages such as high integral rigidity, low overall inertia, strong load-bearing capacity, and good dynamic performance, yet existing hybrid and parallel machine tools have limitations such as a small processing range and low flexibility of workpieces they can handle. To address these issues, this paper proposes a new type of five-axis hybrid machine tool and conducts the following research:
(1) Introduction of the structure of the five-axis hybrid machine tool, followed by a kinematic analysis of the five-axis machine tool, mainly including position analysis, velocity analysis, and end motion analysis of the hybrid mechanism. This lays the foundation for subsequent modeling simulation and machining path trajectory simulation of the five-axis hybrid machine tool.
(2) Three-dimensional modeling of the five-axis hybrid machine tool and a simulation analysis of the movement trajectory of the tool end of the five-axis hybrid machine tool. Before the simulation analysis, all driving pairs of the five-axis machine tool need to be initialized, meaning setting the driving pairs back to the initial position and configuring corresponding parameters. After initialization, a motion simulation analysis of the five-axis hybrid machine tool will be conducted, with simulation results showing a helical motion trajectory at the tool end. This lays a good foundation for subsequent machine tool surface simulation.
(3) Surface machining simulation analysis of the five-axis hybrid machine tool, first analyzing the tool posture and swing center position of the hybrid machine tool, then converting the surface to be machined into NC code through UG post-processing, solving the displacement of driving pairs using MATLAB, and using SolidWorks for surface machining simulation. The surface machining simulation further demonstrates the rationality of the designed five-axis hybrid machine tool.
