A 3D model of a stereolithography 3D printer shared, designed with SolidWorks 2012. SW source files provided!
3D printing technology is actually a collective term for a series of rapid prototyping technologies. Its basic principle is layer-by-layer manufacturing, where a rapid prototyping machine forms the cross-sectional shape of a workpiece through scanning in the X-Y plane, and intermittently displaces the layer thickness along the Z-axis to ultimately create a three-dimensional object. The rapid prototyping technologies available in the market include 3DP technology, FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) technology, SLA (Stereolithography) technology, SLS (Selective Laser Sintering), DLP (Digital Light Processing) technology, and UV (Ultraviolet) curing technology, among others.
