Choke Coil 3D Model SW Design Document
A choke coil is a common mode interference suppression device with a ferrite core. It consists of two coils of the same size and number of turns symmetrically wound on the same ferrite toroidal core, forming a four-terminal device. It presents a high inductance to common mode signals, thereby providing a suppressive effect, while presenting a very low leakage inductance to differential mode signals, having virtually no effect. Choke coils are used in balanced lines to effectively suppress common mode interference signals (such as lightning interference), without affecting the differential mode signals of normal line transmission.
